System-Level Data

This chapter contains information about values and preferences that can be set at the system level, meaning the data and preferences apply across all projects (not just a single project). Topics covered:

  • System Values
  • System Preferences
  • Auto-Recovery of Data after a Crash or a Manager Disconnect
  • Managing Extensibility Plugins
  • Audit Trail
  • Styling Objects in Designs
  • Query Expressions
  • Rules and Constraints
  • Metrics

Summary of each area:

  • System Values — global data values available across all projects (e.g. shared reference data/lookup values).
  • System Preferences — system-wide configuration settings/defaults that apply regardless of which project is open.
  • Auto-Recovery of Data after a Crash or a Manager Disconnect — mechanisms to recover in-progress work if the client crashes or loses its connection to the Capital data manager.
  • Managing Extensibility Plugins — administration of plugin-based extensions available at the system level.
  • Audit Trail — logging/tracking of changes made to system-level or project data for traceability.
  • Styling Objects in Designs — system-wide styling (colors, line styles, etc.) rules applied to design objects.
  • Query Expressions — a query language/expression syntax for filtering or searching data across projects.
  • Rules and Constraints — system-level rule and constraint definitions that can be enforced on design data.
  • Metrics — system-level reporting/measurement capabilities.
