Example – Using Preferences to Guide Cable Routing

For certain cables, you might want to consider the shortest route possible, even if that means using blocked segments that are already full of cables.

You can use preferences to relax the rules for blocked segments and other rules applied to the cable.

In this example, the route cannot accommodate the selected cable for reasons such as Segregation is not permitted or the Segment is blocked.

Segments that cannot accommodate a cable because of rules are highlighted red in the Available Routes table in the Details pane and in the 3D visualization window.

Note

Preferences do not change manual routing results as the route is continuously saved while performing routing interactively.

You can select preferences in the Define Rules and Preferences Dialog Box to override or ignore the routing rules on segments and cables to evaluate potential routes.

You cannot accept the displayed routes, but they can be used to evaluate the lengths of potential routes and enable you to determine modifications such as increased capacity (wider trays, larger penetrations), or multiple segregations.
