Cavity Component Selection in Harness Processing and Harness Engineering

The option to select cavity components appears in the Processing Options of the Composite or Module Breakdown section, and the Harness Engineering section of the Harness Processing Dialog Box. Selecting either of them will give the same results, except in these scenarios..

The following scenarios illustrate the results obtained from different combinations of the Select Cavity Components settings in the Harness Processing options and the Harness Engineering options.

Connector not on BOM

In this scenario, the connector C-3603 is not included on BOM.

Terminals/Seals Stay With Wires

Wire W-1 has functional module code H-FM3 assigned. Wire W-2 has functional module code H-FM4 assigned. As there is an inclusive relationship between these module codes, both connectors are assigned to code H-FM4.

The option Terminals/Seals stay with Wires (not Connectors) is not selected.

Not selected Selected On child design H-FM3, wire W-1 has a terminal selected, despite Terminals/Seals stay with Wires (not Connectors) not being selected. On child design H-FM4, the terminals stay with the wire, despite Terminals/Seals stay with Wires (not Connectors) not being selected.
Selected Not selected On child design H-FM3, wire W-1 does not have any terminals, as terminals/seals should stay with the connectors. On child design H-FM4, the terminals are selected and stay with the connectors.

Consider Non-Wired Objects During Composite Breakdown

This harness design contains three connectors. All three connectors must be delivered regardless of whether option Opt_2 is part of the derivative.

To achieve this, C-3703 was assigned to option Opt_1, and the Project Preference to Consider non-wired objects during composite breakdown was selected.

Results are shown for a derivative containing only option Opt_1.
