Specifying the Off-Route Lengths
You can specify the off-route lengths for either end of a cable to define the length from a near node of a device (where the cable exits the nodal network) to the entry point of the device.
Note
You must consider the surrounding structure between the cableway and the device and include any required slack in the off-route values.
Prerequisites
- Select a cable with specified end devices and status below DRCA (Design Route Complete, Route Approved).
Procedure
From the Details pane, scroll to the End Device Details. The calculated off-route lengths determined by the distance on the nodal network and any additional allowance is displayed in the Off Route fields.
Click the Edit switch () to lock the cable and activate the Off Route fields.See also Locking Design Objects for Editing.
To modify the calculated values, click the Off Route attribute for the From Device and To Device details and type the required values.Note You can specify a value in the range 0 through 999999.99, up to two decimal places only. If you press Enter to specify the values, the changes are saved automatically. See Configuring Decimal Places for Off-Route Lengths to avoid conflict with imported design data that might be in three or more decimal places.
Click Save, or Discard to revert to the previous values.
Results
In Capital Cable Router Admin, if the “Allowance for device<>node Off Route Length(%)” project preference on the Routing tab is specified, the calculated off‑route lengths may be different from the physical length displayed in NX.

The project preference adds an additional percentage of the physical length in NX to calculate the off‑route lengths displayed in the Details pane. The default value is 20%.
