Deleting a Backshell from

a Connector

There are various ways you can remove a backshell from a connector on a harness design.

Note

You can use the extend selection function to select all connected wires and multicores for deletion at the same time. See Extending a Selection.

Procedure

  1. Select one of the entities related to the connector from which the backshell is to be deleted: the connector cavity table, the connector symbol, for modular connectors (housings), the position table.

  2. Either:Press Space Bar and enter Edit

Right-click the selected entity and select Edit Connector

Double-click one of the related entities

The Edit Connector Dialog Box is displayed.

  1. Click the Backshell tab and do one of the following:If the backshell has a library part specified, click the button to the right of the Library Part field. The backshell part and any terminations configured against it in the library are removed.

If the backshell has no library part specified, select all termination names, and then click Delete, to remove from the Terminations list.

  1. Click OK.

Results

  • The backshell is removed from the Harness Design Browser, and its terminations are removed from the connector’s cavity table (if styled).

  • Wires and multicores included in any extended selection are also deleted.
