Cross-Reference Rules

for Pins

For pins with more than one instance you can display cross-references from one instance of the pin to other instances of the pin. Different cross-reference rules apply to the reference and non-reference instances of a pin. Which other instances of a pin are included in an instance's cross-references also depends on whether or not the instance is a home instance (that is, whether or not is has been assigned the “home condition”).

You can specify that a pin instance is a reference instance when you add it to a diagram - see Placing Pins on a Non-shared Object or Placing Pins on an Instance of a Shared Object. You can also convert a non-reference instance into a reference instance

Cross-references are not shown on the pin on a single-pin splice.

The following cross-reference rules apply to pin instances:

Reference instances: Cross-references to all non-reference instances of the pin are shown.
Non-reference instances: If there are only non-reference instances of the pin: Each instance that has the home condition assigned shows cross-references to each of the other instances of the pin.

Each instance that does not have the home condition assigned shows cross-references to each instance that does have the home condition assigned.

If there are both non-reference and reference instances of the pin: Each non-reference instance that has the home condition assigned shows cross-references to each reference instance of the pin.

Each non-reference instance that does not have the home condition assigned shows cross-references to each non-reference instance that does have the home condition assigned.

Note With the home condition not set on any non-reference instances of the pin, no cross-references will be shown on any non-reference instances.
