Creating a
Functional Modular Harness Design
You can create a functional module harness design of a modular parent, and assign module codes to identify which objects in the parent harness data exist within the functional module design.
Procedure
In the Project browser, navigate to the composite design for which you are creating a derivative, right-click and select New Functional Module Harness Design. The New Functional Module Harness Design Dialog Box is displayed.
Enter a Name for the functional module design.
Enter a Part Number and Revision.Note The combination of part number and revision must be unique within the database, not just within the project. If the combination is not unique, both fields are displayed in red, and you will not be able to create the functional module design. A part number is not mandatory when creating a child design.
Specify which of the codes available to the parent harness will exist within this functional module design. Click the ellipsis (...) button to the right of the Applicable FM Codes field. The Applicable Functional Module Codes Dialog Box is displayed, to select from the applicable functional codes available to the parent. Once selected, the codes are displayed in the field.
Click OK. The functional module design is created and added to the Project browser in the following structure:A Functional Modules folder is created beneath the parent design.
The functional module design is placed in the Functional Modules folder, labeled with the design Name and Revision.
