Aerospace documentation teams need to manage large-scale complexities for every aircraft model. To aid this, Capital E/E Publisher allows you to generate Effectivity-aware 150% packages that are able to calculate and manage the unique ranges of effectivity for aircraft. This offers the twin benefits of simpler configuration management, as well as reduced hardware resource consumption, as less disk space is needed to hold each individual range's data by zipping it. Additionally the package enables technicians to dynamically filter based on these ranges, even searching for a specific effectivity or tail number.
The effectivity filtering aspect also allows technicians to search on uniques ranges, for example 1-3 versus 4-7, where the two ranges may have differing electrical layouts specific to their range. The functionality can also work in conjunction with option based configurations to support highly customizable designs - a particular feature of the business jet market, where customers can choose options to be included in an aircraft, independently from its effectivity-based content. Two flows are supported. Select either:
Regular build lists and designs : the system calculates unique ranges based on your selections and any configuration combinations it has.
Dynamic Build Lists: created from pre-defined effectivities.
Note
The two flows are mutually exclusive so on selection of one the option to choose the other is unavailable.
If you select the regular build list or design flow the system calculates effectivity ranges for you so you can then select specific ranges to produce packages applicable only for a subset of aircraft’s customers or a subset of aircrafts.
If you choose the dynamically generated build list flow, effectivity information is inferred from the build list and so is read-only.
You can also select on option configurations that have been previously created in Capital Project Manager.
Once the generation process completes, the result is a 150% package that is available in the Capital Service Explorer and Capital Design Explorer. Filtering the package is done via the Search Box in the browser based package. See also “Filtering by Effectivity” in the Exploring Service Documentation Created by Capital E/E Publisher User Guide.
Tip
Given the sometimes large file size of Aerospace
design data packages, you can set an option to automatically compress
output into a *.zip file. This functionality
is enabled by default, but can be switched off (false), or on (true)
by editing the
URL Support from Effectivity based Capital Service Explorer
Capital E/E Publisher can generate multiple sub-packages for each unique effectivity. URL parameter support is included to pass effectivity as a parameter in URLs. A new parameter effRange can be used to pass either a single effectivity or effectivity range as follows:
Example 1)
Index.html?effRange=e1&package=packageName&component=C1&componentType=connector
Example 2)
Index.html?effRange=e2-e3&package=packageName&component=C1&componentType=connector
In Example 2, e2-e3 will match any range that includes that given range; therefore, it will match e1-e5 and e2-e3. The Capital Service Explorer will then search a unique range that matches given effectivity (or range) and opens the matched sub package.
In case of multiple matches the package and projId parameter will be used to get a unique range. Here the package is the package name given in the generation UI and projId is the name of the project in Capital (which can be obtained from the generated packages.xml).
Note
if no unique match is found based on the URL given then the client will show a message in the browser indicating this error condition.
