Stack at a Component Node
A stack of component graphics comprises a set of overlapping graphics, such as line segments, polylines, and polygons.
You can use the “Validate node component graphics layering” Design Rule Check (DRC) or the Set Layer Order Dialog Box to verify that all component graphics and layer orders match in the stack at the selected node. See also Verifying the Order Matching.

A stack exists at a component node if the following conditions are met:
- The following components have a Layer attribute defined. Clip
Grommet
Multi-location component (MLC)
Other components
- “Secondary” components are present at the node, where secondary components include: Bundle insulation (any insulation which includes the node in its path)
Spot tape
Secondary components have a Layer attribute defined.
The following components have a Layer property defined: Device
Splice
Note
For node components (multi-location components, clips, grommets, and other components), the layer number must be specified as a Layer attribute. For insulation (including spot tape), the existing Layer attribute is used.
The “Validate node component graphics layering” DRC uses the following 3D axis system from the node location on the diagram to determine the stack orientation:
Origin — node location
x axis — direction of the bundle
y axis — direction perpendicular to the bundle
