Capital Schematic Generator for Logic Designer
Generating Filtered Diagrams
for a Design
You can use Capital Schematic Generator for Logic Designer to generate one or more diagrams for a design.
Note
To save time when you run these steps again, create a configuration file to store all the settings on all the tabs of the dialog box used in this task. You can then import the file to automatically populate all the fields.
See Export and Import Configuration Settings.
Procedure
- Right-click the design name in the Project Browser window and select Generate Diagrams.Note This action works only for generating diagrams for logical designs.
The New Generated Diagrams Dialog Box is displayed.
If you do not have a Capital Schematic Generator for Logic Designer Filter license, specify the Name and Properties of the diagram to be generated on the Table 32.
If you have a Capital Schematic Generator for Logic Designer Filter license, specify the diagrams to generate and the connectivity objects to distribute to each diagram on the Table 31.
On the Table 28, specify the styling to use for objects on the generated diagrams. By default, Capital Schematic Generator for Logic Designer uses the Default style set for Capital Logic Designer. If you have a license to use Capital Styling, you can click the Style Set dropdown list at the top of the tab to select a different style set, if available. You can click the ellipsis button (...) to open the Style Sets Dialog to edit an existing style set or create a new style set. Caution On the Table 33, you can edit the default style set or selected style set but note that the changes will apply to any designs using the style set and will be visible if this style set is viewed in Capital Project Manager.
See the Diagram Styling User Guide for more information about style sets and how to edit them.
On the Table 34, specify the preferences to use for the layout of the diagrams. See Specifying Layout Styling When Generating Diagrams for layout styling preferences.
On the Table 35, specify whether you want to use an existing design as a template for the generated diagram. Any connectivity in the current design that matches connectivity in the selected template design will take the layout from the template. Any unmatched connectivity in the current design will be laid out automatically.Note If a path in the current project is more complex than the reference path in a template path, Capital Schematic Generator for Logic Designer uses its own improved algorithm to determine the layout of the path.
In the From Project window, select the project that contains the template diagram.
In the Select Design Prototype window, select the template diagram from the browser tree.Note If a design (for which diagrams have to be generated) and the template are revisions of the same design, connectivity objects (devices, conductors, and so on) are matched by revisions. Otherwise, connectivity objects are matched by name.
Select the Background Run check box to use the Flexible Execution Model (FEM) to generate diagrams as a background task. Clear to run the diagram generator task locally.Note You must run at least one Capital Integration Server (CIS) controller in your Capital environment to display the Background Run check box. See also “Running Capital Tasks in the Background (Flexible Execution Model)” in the Capital Design Tools - Common Functions User Guide.
You can monitor the task and access the log file on the Tasks Tab in the Output Window. You can also access the log files in your temp directory.
- Click Generate Diagrams.Existing diagrams that have had connectivity added or removed are deleted and new diagrams are created (where there are connectivity objects distributed to them).
