Adding a
Backshell with an Associated Library Part
You can add a backshell to a connector by associating a backshell part from the library.
Prerequisites
A backshell part must exist in the library, with at least one termination specified.
You must have added a connector to the harness design and associated it with a library part (see also Adding a Connector with an Associated Library Part), although a backshell can be added while placing a connector.
The backshell part must have been added to the housing definition of the connector to which it is being applied. See also “Housing” in the Capital Component Manager User Guide.
Procedure
Select one of the entities related to the connector to which you are adding a backshell: the structure node at which the connector is placed, the connector cavity table, the primary connector symbol, for modular connectors (housings), the position table.
Either:Press Space Bar and enter Edit
Right-click the selected entity and select Edit Connector
Double-click one of the related entities
The Edit Connector Dialog Box is displayed.
On the Backshell tab, click the ellipsis (...) button to the right of the Library Part field. The Part Selection Dialog Box is displayed, to search for and insert a backshell from the connector’s housing definition. The associated backshell will be displayed in the Library Part field.
Click OK.
Results
The backshell is added to the Harness Design Browser, nested beneath the connector to which it was added, and all backshell terminations are listed beneath it.
If the connector has a cavity chart styled, the backshell terminations are added at the bottom, beneath the connector cavities.
