Fill Types

You can use Fill types to define the method used to calculate the percentage fill of the segment.

The Fill types of cableway components are determined by the library part definitions. Each cableway segment on the network inherits the Fill types from the library part definitions. You can override the inherited Fill type on individual segments using the Network tab in Capital Cable Router Admin.

Standard

Fill Types

Fill Type	Usage	Calculation
Duct Fill	Used with circular or oval shaped cableway components.	Percentage fill of oval cross section ducting (circular if width = height).
Single Layer	Used for trays, ladders, and hangers where only one layer of cables is permitted.	Percentage fill is based on the widths of the cables and the cableway, rather than the volumetric areas.
Multi Layer (Square)	Used for trays, ladders, and hangers where multiple layers of cables are permitted.	Cables are considered as square cross‑sections when calculating areas.
Multi Width	Used for trays, ladders, and hangers where more than one layer of cables is permitted.	Emulates two layers of cables by doubling usable width.
Rise Variable (Circular)	Cables pass through an aperture. Each cable enclosed in a suitably sized sleeve or collar.	Size of the sleeve or collar of each cable is used to calculate its area.
NEC 2017 Power (Ladder)	Large power cables in single layer on ladders, and smaller cables in multiple layers.	Small cables as circles. Single layer of large cables uses outside diameter only.

Fill Types

Derivative Fill types are listed under each standard Fill type on the Spacing Fill Types tab and determine how a tray containing cables of different Segregation codes is filled.

The system calculates the fill pattern of each standard Fill type and adds the minimum spacing between collections of cables that have different Segregation codes.
