Depopulate Objects (Wire Driven) Constraint

Configure this constraint to retain objects of the specified type matching the query defined, when depopulating redundant objects using the wire driven method.

Do not depopulate <object> matching <any> during wire driven depopulation

Arguments

Arguments Description
CopyObject Use to specify the component type that you want to retain. Default entry is Bundle. Click to display a list of available component types.
Copy<any> Use to specify a query expression condition to drive the selection of the associated matching object. Click the text to open a popup menu: Edit or New — Opens the Condition Dialog Box, to create or edit a query expression. In the Condition dialog box, click the Advanced Editor button (), to open the Edit Query Expressions dialog box and create or edit advanced queries. See also “Query Expressions”. {any} — Click to apply to all matching objects. Select a predefined query from the list. See “Query Expression Context” to filter items in the list.

Description

You can configure one or more Depopulate Objects (Wire Driven) Constraints to prevent certain objects being depopulated.

Retained objects will also have their supporting objects retained, for example, if a clip is retained, the bundle where that clip is placed is also retained.

Objects Supporting Objects
Bundle No additional supporting objects are preserved.
Clip If the Clip is placed at a reference node then preserve the bundle it is on. If the Clip is placed at a structure node then preserve all bundles connected to this node.
Connector If the Connector is a modular parent, preserve all bundles connected to this Connector, except any 0-length bundles connecting this Connector and any modular children that will be deleted. If the Connector is a modular child, preserve its modular parent. In all other cases, all bundles connected to the Connector are preserved.
Device If the Device is placed at a reference node then preserve the bundle it is on. If the Device is placed at a structure node then preserve all bundles connected to this node.
Grommet If the Grommet is placed at a reference node then preserve the bundle it is on. If the Grommet is placed at a structure node then preserve all bundles connected to this node.
Insulation Run Preserve any bundles along the path of the Insulation Run.
Node MLC If the Node MLC is placed at a reference node then preserve the bundle it is on. If the Node MLC is placed at a structure node then preserve all bundles connected to this node. If the Node MLC is placed at a connector node then the Connector and any objects needed to support the Connector are also preserved.
Cavity MLC Preserve the Pin Lists where the Cavity MLC exists, along with any supporting objects needed for the Pin Lists.
Other Component If the Other Component is placed at a reference node then preserve the bundle it is on. If the Other Component is placed at a structure node then preserve all bundles connected to this node.
Ring Terminal Preserve all bundles connected to the node.
Splice If the Splice is placed at a reference node then preserve the bundle it is on. If the Splice is placed at a structure node then preserve all bundles connected to this node.
Node Insulation If the Node Insulation is placed at a reference node then preserve the bundle it is on. If the Node Insulation is placed at a structure node then preserve all bundles connected to this node. If this object is a Spot Tape that is on a Splice with the attribute "Insulation Type" = "Spot Tape" then the Spot Tape will be deleted if the Splice is deleted. If the Splice is preserved, the Spot Tape will be preserved, unless no wires pass through it and it does not match a constraint.

Examples

In the following example, connectors in the design which have a property Retain, set to True, will not be depopulated during wire driven depopulation of redundant objects. Any bundles connected to the retained connectors will also be retained.
