Usage Example of Building

Up a Wiring View

The following is an example of building up a wiring view for signals.

You have a system design in Capital Logic Designer:

The signal BATT_ECU is connected to the device BATT and two ECUs ECU_X and ECU_1.

A signal INTERNAL is a slot-internal signal because the ECUs ECU_1 and ECU-2 will be placed in the same slot.

That system design is associated with a Capital Systems Integrator design:

You want to build a simple visualized wiring view of some signals and their connectivity to specific devices.

You start by generating a wiring view of the signal BATT-GND.

Open the Build Diagram dialog box and select the BATT slot in the wiring view.

The Build Diagram dialog box informs you that you are building from the device BATT and lists the different signal or multicore connections that exist from that device to other individual devices.

As was seen in the Capital Logical Designer design, the device BATT device connects to two ECUs ECU_1 and ECU_X. It is the same BATT_ECU signal but two different connections.

You could select both connections to visualize the whole signal but in this example you are interested only in the connection to ECU_1.

You select it and click Build.

The action regenerates the wiring, adding the connection to ECU_1.

Note

The icon on the build action changes to indicate that you have made changes to the wiring view and it is no longer showing the full wiring for the selected signals.

The Build Diagram dialog box has also been updated because the ECU_1 device has now been included in the view.

If you open the Remove Content dialog box, you see that it has been added to that.

You now want to consider connections from ECU_1 so select the slot ECU_1_2 in the wiring view.

The Build Diagram dialog box shows that you are building from device ECU_1 and lists the different connections that exist from that device.

This time you are interested in the inclusion of the ground device GND_ECU.

In the Capital Logical Designer design, ECU_1 is not directly connected to GND_ECU. It is connected to another ECU via an internal signal. This functionality has traced that internal signal automatically.

You select the GND _ECU row and click Build.

The connection to GND_ECU is added to the visualized wiring view, including the connector to which the other ECU maps.
