Semi Automatic Cable Routing

You can use the Semi Automatic action as part of Interactive cable routing to highlight and select available segments at each node automatically.

Note

You are only required to select a segment when the system identifies two or more available segments using Semi Automatic cable routing.

Restrictions and Limitations

  • You cannot add segments to the route in NX if other users have locked the cable for editing. See also Locking Design Objects for Editing.

Prerequisites

  • Select a project containing unrouted cables in Capital Cable Router.

  • Select the Semi Automatic check box above the Available Routes table.

Procedure

  1. From the Cables tab in the Search pane, click the Status dropdown list and select DSNR (Design Scheduled Not Routed).

  2. Click Search. The unrouted cables in the project are listed in the Search pane.

  3. Select a cable in the Search pane. The Start and End nodes and a proposed route, if only one route is available, are highlighted in the 3D visualization window. If the system identifies two or more available segments, the segments are highlighted in the 3D visualization window, and listed in the Available Routes table. Figure 48: Example Available Segments Selected by the System The following colors displayed in the Available Routes table represent the availability status of the segments: Green — Available to route with no restrictions.

Orange — Selecting the segment would break the threshold values assigned to the cable.

Red — Segment is unavailable to select as it breaks a rule assigned to the cable. See Applying Routing Rules and Preferences to modify the threshold values.

  1. Select a segment to add to the path from the Available Routes table.

  2. (Optional) To select a segment to add to the path from the 3D visualization window, right-click the segment and select Select from List > Add to Route ().The segment color is updated on the 3D assembly to identify that the segment is added to the path, and the segments are removed from the Available Routes table.

  3. Continue to select segments as required until the path is completed.

Results

  • The path of the routed cable is displayed using the color specified in the Nodal Network Settings Dialog Box.

  • The Available Routes table is cleared of available segments.

  • The Route Status of the routed cable is updated to DRCNA (Design Route Complete Not Approved).
