Example of Exclusive Mappings in a Slot due to Harness Levels
In a signal map for a slot, you can toggle whether the Signal Mappings tab displays mappings that contain option expressions that are mutually exclusive within a harness level, and are therefore invalid.
Note
The system considers only the expressions of the connector, device, and device pin when determining exclusivity. It does not consider any option defined on a net during this checking.

In this example, there are two devices placed with two non-exclusive option expressions. The OPTa and OPTb options are not mutually-exclusive so these connections are valid (purely based on the options themselves).

The harness levels have been defined to create level exclusivity. OPTa can exist only on harness level a and OPTb can exist only on harness level b. That means, the harness levels do not support a mapping of a OPTa connector to a OPTb device, nor do they support a mapping of a OPTb connector to a OPTb device.

By default, the Signal Mappings tab for the slot shows just four valid mappings for this scenario. OPTa connector maps to OPTa device, and OPTb connector maps to OPTb device.

However, you can click the View mappings unsupported by harness levels filter button () to view invalid mappings for this scenario.

The signal map displays eight rows, four of which are marked as ‘exclusive by level’ (). These are the rows where the connector expression cannot coexist with at least one of the levels on the harness and the device expression.
If level a is active, then the harness can connect to DEV1 or DEV3 but cannot connect to P7_a when DEV3 (OPTb) is active.
If level b is active, then the harness can connect to DEV1 or DEV3 but cannot connect to P7_b when DEV1 (OPTa) is active.
The tooltip for the info icon for such mappings says:

The mapping contains option expressions that are not supported in the physical harness level definition of <harness_names>
Some invalid exclusive mappings due to harness levels are always displayed in the Signal Mappings tab.

In this example, the OPTb device has been unplaced, leaving just the OPTa device.
For this scenario, the signal map displays four mappings.

There are two valid mappings for the OPTa connector to the OPTa device.
There are two invalid mappings for the OPTb connector to the OPTa device. These rows are shown with a warning icon () because they are the only mappings for that connector cavity to a device pin. As such, they need to be fixed as they can never be active and there is no mapping that can be active for the OPTb connector.
The tooltip on the warning icon indicates the issue.
