Cable Routing

Interactive Cable Routing

Interactive cable routing identifies available segments leading from the Start or End node, which you can select continuously to complete the required path.

You can use the following actions to configure the route when creating cable routes interactively:

  • Undo () — Undoes the last routing action. If the Semi Automatic check box is selected, the last routing action made by the system is undone.

  • Reverse All () — Reverses the order of the segments in the Route Details table to start the route at the opposite end device than the one selected initially.

  • Find Breaks () — Identifies missing segments in the route and invokes Semi Automatic routing.

  • Delete Route () — Deletes selected segments from the route or the complete route.

Restriction

You must click the Edit switch () to lock the cable and activate the interactive routing actions. See also Locking Design Objects for Editing.

This video demonstrates the tasks to route cables interactively:

Tip

You can use the Automatically Load Areas action in NX to load the From and To devices and the areas they belong to, and automatically load the areas of the nodal network that belong to any segments which are identified as available to add to the path. See Automatically Load Areas of the Nodal Network.
