Authoring Controls Overview

Use the “Only allow Capital Harness Designer-authored wires & multicores to be edited and deleted” project preference to specify that only wires and multicores authored in Capital Harness Designer can be modified.

With the preference set, you are prevented from editing wires and multicores that have been authored outside of Capital Harness Designer. See also “Project Preferences” in the Capital Design Tools Common Functions User Guide.

Note

The restrictions only apply to editing and deleting wires using the Edit Wires Dialog Box, the Edit Multicores Dialog Box, and the Harness Design Browser.

Such wires display with a strike through in the Edit Wires dialog box and Edit Multicores dialog box as shown in Figure 221.

Table 17 and Table 18 provide definitions of the authoring tool.

Copied or revised designs: In these cases, the authored status of each wire is the same as the original design, as long as the original design still exists in the database. If the original design no longer exists in the database, all wires will be treated as Non-Capital Harness Designer authored.	Capital Harness Designer / Non-Capital Harness Designer as appropriate
Variant wires created using the Variant Position Connectors or Variant Position Splices process: In these cases, if any one variant wire is considered Non-Capital Harness Designer authored, all variants with the same name are also treated as Non-Capital Harness Designer authored. After creating variant wires using one of the variant position processes, you must save the design before editing any of the variant wires. Multicores

Multicores are defined as Capital Harness Designer authored or Non-Capital Harness Designer authored based on the composition of their nested wires.

One or more of the multicore nested wires are non-Capital Harness Designer authored	Non-Capital Harness Designer Authored
