Adding a Splice Without a Library Part or Symbol
You can add a single-pin splice to a diagram without assigning a library part or symbol to it.
Note
You cannot create a multi-pin splice using the procedure described below. Multi-pin splices must have a symbol associated. See Adding a Splice From Capital Component Manager or Adding a Splice Based on a Symbol.
Procedure
Press the space bar and enter Splice, and then select Home > Splice > Add Splice from the Search Ribbon dropdown list. The cursor changes to and a shadow circle appears indicating where the splice will be added.
Click to place the splice.
Results
The splice is added to the diagram and to the Design Browser.
If you placed the splice on the end of a wire, the wire is connected to the splice.
If you placed the splice on a non-shared wire at a point other than one of the ends of the wire, the wire is split into two wires, with one wire retaining the name of the original wire and the other being given a new name.
If you placed the splice on an instance of a shared wire at a point other than one of the ends of the instance, the wire is converted to a center-stripped wire and the splice is converted to a center strip splice.
