Moving Symbols
Locked to Nodes and Decorations
You can lock symbols (including symbols placed as graphics) and component nodes to use the symbol to move the components on the diagram. You can also use the Shift key to reposition decorations locked in a group to a decoration with a nominal origin set to Owner.
Restrictions and Limitations
You cannot use the Shift key to reposition the decoration with the Nominal Origin specified as Owner in the style set, to change its position relative to the objects in the group.
If you move a symbol placed as a graphic that is associated with a Multi-Location Component (MLC) node, only the MLC node associated with the symbol will be moved.
Procedure
- To enable symbols and component nodes to be moved together, use the following project preferences.Lock component symbol to node for moving
Allow independent move with CTRL + move symbol
To reposition symbols and child decorations locked in a group, press Shift and drag the decoration to move its position relative to the objects in the group.
The decoration and symbol remain locked as a group. The new position is preserved, if you move the decoration or any of the objects in the group. The position of child decorations is preserved, if you move the parent decoration or any of the objects in the group.
Note For a single decoration, you can select all associated locked decorations in one action. See Selecting all Associated Locked Decorations in the Capital Diagram Styling User Guide.
