Harness Processing Dialog

To access: Select a harness design in the Harness Design Browser, and then select the Automate > Processing ribbon action, or press Space Bar and enter Processing.

Used to select harness designs to be processed, and to specify the actions to be performed.

Note

You can pre-configure, lock or hide the processing selection options using the Default Processing Configuration project preference.

Objects

Field	Description
Design	Displays the name, revision, and short description of the design for which harness processing is being run. Read-only.
	All other options on this dialog box are displayed in the form of a wizard, and are detailed as separate screens. Once the mandatory options for each screen have been selected, the Next button is enabled to move to the next screen. Click Finish on the last screen to run the harness processing.
Run in Background	Displayed at the bottom of the dialog box only if a Capital Integration Server web service is configured in the clientprops.xml file of your installation. If cleared, the harness processing tasks will run locally. If selected, the tasks are sent to a Capital Integration Server to be run in the background. Process Selection	This section specifies the harness processing actions to be applied to the selected design.
Composite Breakdown	Only available if you are processing a composite harness with one or more derivatives. This process deletes the content from any existing harness derivatives, regenerates all harness objects based on the option expressions assigned to those objects in the composite design, and selects library parts based on engineering restrictions. If selected, the Composite Breakdown Screen is available in the wizard, offering a number of options for controlling the regeneration of the harness objects. Optional.
Module Breakdown	(This option is only available for Capital Harness Designer Modular) Only available if you are processing a parent modular harness with one or more child harness designs. This process deletes the content from any existing child harness designs, regenerates all harness objects based on the module codes assigned to those objects in the parent design, and selects library parts based on engineering restrictions. If selected, the Module Breakdown Screen is available in the wizard, offering a number of options for controlling the regeneration of the harness objects. Optional.
Harness Engineering	This process selects / reselects library parts based on engineering restrictions. If selected, the Processing Options Screen is available in the wizard, offering a number of options for selecting components. This process also generates all engineered harness data, including wire lengths, bundle diameters, and tape lengths. When processing a composite harness with at least one derivative design, the option to run harness engineering on the composite harness or all derivative harnesses is available. Select Composite or Derivative as appropriate. With the Derivative option selected, the Derivative Selection option is enabled to select the derivative designs to be included in the harness engineering. (For Capital Harness Designer Modular only) When processing a modular parent harness with at least one child design, the option to run harness engineering on the parent harness or all child harnesses is available. Select Parent or Child Design as appropriate. With the Child Design option selected, the Child Design Selection option is enabled to select the child designs to be included in the harness engineering. Optional.
Harness Checks	Investigates the harness design, searching for missing or erroneous data that could have a negative impact on harness integrity, or the ability to construct the harness as designed. For example, any un-terminated wire ends are reported, as are any junctions that have been insulated using an un-slit tube. When processing a composite harness with at least one derivative design, the option to perform harness checks on the composite harness or all derivative harnesses is available. Select Composite or Derivative as appropriate. With the Derivative option selected, the Derivative Selection option is enabled to select the derivative designs to be included in the checks. (For Capital Harness Designer Modular only) When processing a modular parent harness with at least one child design, the option to perform harness checks on the parent harness or all child harnesses is available. Select Parent or Child Design as appropriate. With the Child Design option selected, the Child Design Selection option is enabled to select the child designs to be included in the checks. Optional.
Child Design Selection	Only enabled when you are processing a composite / modular harness with one or more derivatives / child designs. These options specify the derivative / child designs to be included when performing the processing actions selected. To include a derivative / child design harness in the processing, highlight the design in the Available list, and then click Add to move it to the Selected list. To exclude a derivative from processing, highlight the design in the Selected list, and then click Remove. To select or exclude all derivatives / child designs in a single step, click Add All or Remove All. At least one derivative / child design must be selected. Design names display in italics when: They have been edited since Composite Breakdown / Modular Breakdown was last run on the parent. Processing is prohibited for this design because its Release Level does not include the behavior “Harness Processing”.
Enter Filter String () / Clear Filter String ()	In the field next to the Enter Filter String icon (), type a series of characters to display only derivatives with names containing those characters in the Available or Selected lists. The behavior of the filter varies depending on whether you use wildcards and the case (upper or lower) of the specified characters. See also “Browser Tab and Dialog Box Filters” in the Capital Design Tools - Common Functions User Guide. If you click Add All or Remove All, only the displayed designs are added or removed from the lists. If you apply a filter to the Selected list, the Next button is dimmed. Click the Clear Filter String icon (), to clear the filter and view all the available derivatives in the design, or all the selected derivatives to process. Optional.
Composite Breakdown Screen	Specifies the composite breakdown actions to perform on the selected composite harness and its derivatives. Select the Composite Breakdown option to select all actions; alternatively, all actions can be individually selected. Module Breakdown Screen	(This option is only available for Capital Harness Designer Modular) Specifies the module breakdown actions to perform on the selected modular parent harness and its child designs. Select the Module Breakdown option to select all actions; alternatively, all actions can be individually selected. Processing Options Screen	Specifies the processing options to be performed on a single harness. Select the Processing Options option to select all actions; alternatively, all actions can be individually selected. For a complete description of all of the actions available, see Harness Engineering.
Harness Checks Screen	Specifies the checks to apply to the selected design, and to configure the generation of the harness checks report. Select the Harness Checks option to select all checks; alternatively, all checks can be individually selected. For a complete description of all of the checks available, see Harness Checks.
Report Details	These options are used to configure the generation of a report to detail the results of the harness checks: Generate Report Select to enable the generation of a harness checks report. Optional. Include Blank Sections The generated report displays each harness check performed and lists the nodes, bundles, or components with which an issue has been encountered beneath the check. By default, any checks resulting in no issues are not displayed. Selecting this option results in all checks being listed in the report, regardless of whether any issues have been encountered. Optional. Filename Click the ellipsis (...) to display a generic file browser and specify the name and location to save the report file. If the Generate Report option is selected, this step is mandatory.
Summary Screen	Summarizes the designs you have selected for processing, and the processing actions that will be performed. Additionally, the Finish button is available in the wizard to start the harness processing.
Processes To Be Run	Displays the processes you have selected, and in the case of composite designs, the number of derivatives (out of the total number available) selected for inclusion. Read-only.
Derivatives To Be Processed	Displays the derivative designs you have selected for inclusion in the harness processing. Read-only.
