Creating a Composite Harness

Design

You can create a composite harness, and specify the options available to define derivative relationships.

Prerequisites

  • A valid project is open.

Procedure

  1. Right-click the project in the Project browser and choose New Harness Design.The New Harness Design Dialog Box is displayed.

  2. Enter a Name for the design.

  3. Enter a Part Number and Revision.Note The combination of these two values must be unique within the database, not just within the project. If the combination is not unique, both fields are displayed in red, and you will not be able to create the design.

  4. If you want to create a diagram at the same time as the design, leave the Create Harness Diagram option selected and configure the diagram settings as detailed in Using Diagrams.

  5. Click the ellipsis button (...) to the right of the Applicable Optionsfield.The Applicable Options Dialog Box is displayed, to select the options available to the composite. When selected, the options are displayed in the field.

  6. Click OK.

Results

The design is created and added to the Project browser in the following structure:

  • A design folder is created and labeled with the design Name.

  • The design is placed within this folder, labeled with the design Name and Revision.

  • Any diagrams are created beneath the design, and labeled with the diagram Name.

  • If you chose to create a diagram, it is opened in the Diagram window.
