Merging Splices
The merge process uses a set of criteria to decide whether any splices attached to the selected bundle on the member design and the target bundle on the merged design are equal, similar or different.
Equal
The merge process classes both objects as Equal when all of the following are satisfied:
The part number and its attributes are the same.
The attributes Insulation Type and Center Stripped Wires are the same.
The splices are attached to the same bundle.
The splices are located at the same position on the bundle.
The connected wires are the same.
Similar
The merge process classes both objects as Similar in the following situation:
The part number is the same. (Part number can be different and you can Force Merge the splice if wire numbers/pin-out are the same).
Attributes Insulation Type and Center Stripped Wires are the same.
The splices are attached to the same bundle.
There is a difference in: Position on the bundle (outside the limits defined in the Bundle Tolerance topic).
Number of connected wires (including center stripped wires).
Pin-out of connected wires (including center stripped wires).
- Similar splices located at the same position on the bundle are duplicated automatically when the Duplicate Objects with Different Connectivity Formboard Manager Preference is enabled.
