Synthesis Configuration

Synthesis configurations are displayed as icons at the top of the Wiring Synthesis dialog box (by default, Full Synthesis, Modular Synthesis, Generate & Finish, Finish Synthesis). When you click an icon, the behavior of the dialog box changes. You may want to create a configuration to ensure consistency in the actions that you run when using wiring synthesis. That is, if a user is instructed to use a particular synthesis configuration, they can avoid selecting incorrect actions and they use fewer mouse clicks.

Figure 208: Default Synthesis Configurations in Dialog Box

You define the configurations per installation using an xml file. The settings from the xml file are applied to the dialog box when you click the icon for a configuration.

A synthesis configuration dictates:

  • which synthesis actions are selected by default in the dialog box

  • whether the selection of an individual action is editable in the dialog box

For example:

If you want a Finish Synthesis run to never generate physical harness levels, you can edit the Finish Synthesis configuration so that the “Generate Physical Harness Levels” action is not selected and is read-only (that is, it cannot be selected in the dialog box when Finish Synthesis is selected).

You can edit and remove the default configurations as well as define your own additional or alternative configurations.
