Capital Harness Designer Modular

Variant Production Module

Generation

A typical manufacturing methodology involves the creation of pieces of the harness as production modules that are then combined in a final assembly operation along with other components to make the final harness.

The decision process to determine which components to group together in a production module is complex and is typically an interactive task carried out by an experienced process engineer.

A key factor when deciding if a candidate production module is suitable relates to how many variants of the production module there are. If the candidate module has a lot of optional content then the high number of potential variants could make it unsuitable for preparation as a production module.

Capital Harness Designer Modular Variant Production Module functionality enables you to automatically identify and generate all of the possible variants of a candidate production module based on either the functional module codes (and their relationships) assigned to the input wiring or the number of derivatives and their content.

This video demonstrates the functionality.

  • You can run a simulation that tells you how many variants there would be for the selected content. You can also configure the simulation generation to allow for variance where connectors are plugged or un-plugged.

  • If the result of simulation indicates that the variance is too high, adjust the content of the candidate parent to remove selected wiring and content to reduce number of driving functional module codes.

  • If you decide the number of variants is manageable: Commit the content to a parent module.

Repeat the process for whole harness.

Run live generation on all the parent modules to automatically generate all the combinations and associated technical module codes and make the assignations to the selected objects.
