Using Fetch Related Extended
Action
The Fetch Related Extended action enables you to find all the objects directly connected to the selected object in your diagram and retrieves them into your current diagram. The devices and their connectors are retrieved with all their pins.
Prerequisites
Connectivity that you wish to create on your service diagrams must be in an active build list.
You must have read/write permissions to all the designs.
Procedure
- To invoke the Fetch Related Extended action select a wire, conductor, pin list, splice, overbraid, backshell or multicore, and do one of the following:Click the Fetch Related icon on the ribbon.
Select the Fetch Related Extended option in the drop down menu of the icon.
Press the space bar and enter “Extended.”
Use the keyboard shortcut Shift+Alt+F.
Right-clicking and selecting Fetch Related Extended from the context menu.
Once the Fetch Related - Extended action is invoked an information panel is displayed explaining that some designs may be modified and saved. Select Fetch to continue with your action, otherwise press Cancel. If you continue with the Fetch Related Extended action a progress bar pops up indicating its status.
Once the action completes any connected objects are brought on to the current diagram. Only related connectivity that is part of the trace is brought in.Styling is applied to differentiate the fetched objects from objects that already existed on the diagram. This is controlled by a plugin, which can be obtained through Siemens Communities, and can be set in the Styling dialog. You can check the output window tab to see if any issues are reported. Any limitations or failures are highlighted here, in a report detailing the object type and specific issue, along with a hyperlink to the issue itself.
Upon reviewing the fetched connectivity details, you may decide to remove certain objects. Right-click and select Delete from the context menu to remove selected objects from the current diagram only. You can also delete objects using the Delete button or the delete action in ribbon. Please note, these objects continue to exist in the diagram from which they were fetched.
It is also possible to select an additional object(s) on the diagram and invoke another Fetch Related - Extended action to further embellish the connectivity, including complete pin list, device internal details and specific pins of the connected objects on the current diagram.
