Creating a New Capital Systems Modeler Design

You can create a new design for a project in Capital Systems Modeler and then create a diagram for the design.

Procedure

Either:Right-click the project in the Project Browser and select New Functional Design.

Press Space Bar and enter New Functional Design.

The New Capital Systems Modeler Design facility is opened.

Specify the following for the design:Name - The name of the design. This field is mandatory. If valid names for the designs have been created in Capital Project Manager, you can select a name by clicking the ellipsis button (...) to open the Name Selection dialog box. Note You can click the Properties button to open the Edit Design Properties dialog box, and add or remove properties for the design.

Revision - The revision of the design. This field is mandatory.

Short Description - A brief description for the design.

Description - A detailed description for the design.

Release Level - The release level for the design. The release level of the design. Release levels are created in Capital Project Manager. See “Release Level” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide for more information on creating and using release levels.

Domain - the domain for the design. For an overview of creating and using domains, see “Domains” in the Capital Access Manager User Guide. For information about assigning a project to a domain, see “Domain” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide. For information about assigning designs to domains, see “Domains for Designs” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide.

Location - denotes the physical location in the product where the design content resides.

Create Diagram - Select to create a diagram for the design automatically. If you create a diagram, it is automatically displayed in the Diagram window.

Name - If you have specified that you want a diagram to be created automatically, specify the name of the diagram. Note You can click the Properties button to open the Edit Diagram Properties dialog box, and add or remove properties for the design. See Editing the Properties of a Diagram for more information.

Style Set - the style set that you want to apply to the diagram. See the Diagram Styling User Guide for more information about style sets and how to edit them.

Click the OK button.
A folder for the design is added to the Project Browser Window tree. Under the folder for the design, the design revision is displayed. If the system has created a diagram automatically, the diagram is displayed under the design revision in the Project Browser Window tree and is opened in the Diagram window.Note If the system has not created a diagram automatically.
