Design Browser

The Design Browser is located on the lower left side of the application window and is opened by clicking the Design tab.

Tip

If you hover over the Design Name in the Design Browser, a tooltip is displayed giving general design information, such as Name, Revision, and Creation Date. To also display effectivity range information about the design, you must set the in the clientprops.xml file located in the config directory of your installation. See also “Show Design Count for Effectivity Build List Setting” in the Capital Configuration Files Reference Guide.

The Design Browser contains the following:

• Browser tree Lists the objects in the currently active design revision or currently active diagram (depending on whether “Showing all objects in the design” () or “Only showing objects in the active diagram” () is selected). Also lists any design-wide objects that are not currently used in the design in Unplaced folders. See Deleting Design-Wide Objects.

If an object has child objects, such as pins, these are displayed as sub-nodes of that object. To expand a folder or node click the plus sign (+). To collapse a folder or node, click the minus sign (-). When you select an object in the browser tree, it is highlighted on its diagram. If you select a pin, a circle is displayed around it on its diagram. If you hover over an instance of a design‑wide object, a tooltip indicates the diagram where that instance is located. Double‑click an instance to jump to it on its diagram.

• String-based filter (/)

In the field next to the Enter Filter String icon () enter a series of characters. A filter is applied to the browser tree so that only objects with names containing that series of characters are listed.

			Restriction 
				Filtering does not list child objects such as pins and cavities.

			

			Clear Filter String

The behavior of the filter varies depending on such things as whether you use wildcards and the case (upper or lower) of the specified characters. See also “Browser Tab and Dialog Box Filters” in the Capital Design Tools - Common Functions User Guide. Click the icon () to clear the filter.

• Design filter button ( / )

Controls what is displayed in the browser tree. Click to switch between showing all objects in the currently active design revision () and only objects in the currently active diagram ().

Tip

You can press the space bar and enter Toggle Browser Area to show / hide the Design Browser and other browsers.
