Partitioning

a Capital Schematic Generator Wiring Diagram

You can partition a wiring diagram that was generated using Capital Schematic Generator for Systems Integrator. That is, you can split it into multiple diagrams, for example, to make the content easier to read. When partitioning, you select the diagram content to move from the source diagram to a new partitioned diagram. You can also use the partition action on diagrams previously created by that action to split them further.

Prerequisites

  • The source diagram to partition must be a Capital Schematic Generator generated wiring diagram or a diagram previously created using the partition action.

Procedure

  1. In Capital Logic Designer, right-click a Capital Schematic Generator generated wiring diagram in the Project Browser window and select Partition Wiring Diagram.Note This action is available only for Capital Schematic Generator generated wiring diagrams or diagrams previously created using the partition action.

The New Logical Diagram dialog box is displayed.

  1. Specify the name of the partitioned diagram. In general, you would add a suffix to the source diagram name (such as _A, _B, and so on).

  2. Specify the style set to be used by the diagram. By default, this is the same as the source diagram.

  3. Specify any properties that you want the partitioned diagram to have.Note The partitioning process adds some non-editable properties. These are the properties required for you to use the partitioned diagram as a prototype (template) when using Capital Schematic Generator for Systems Integrator to generate further wiring diagrams.

  4. Click OK.The new diagram is added under the design in the Project Browser window, and opens in the Diagram window.

  5. Select the content in the source diagram to be moved to the new partitioned diagram, right-click and select Move To.A Diagram Selection dialog box is displayed.

  6. Select the new partitioned diagram and click OK.The selected content moves from the source diagram to the new one.

Results

You can select the partitioned diagram as a prototype (template) when using Capital Schematic Generator for Systems Integrator to generate further wiring diagrams. For details of how Capital Schematic Generator for Systems Integrator distributes objects from these prototype diagrams, see “Translation of Objects When Using Partitioned Wiring Diagrams as Templates (Prototypes)” in the Capital Systems Integrator User Guide.
