Adding
a Plug, Jack, Inline, or Ring Terminal Manually
You can add a plug, jack, inline, or ring terminal to a diagram manually.
Note

As an alternative to adding connectors manually, you can add a device connector interactively (see Adding a Device Connector Interactively) or add a device from Capital Component Manager with a device connector defined in its footprint to generate the device connector automatically (see Generating Device Connectors Using a Footprint). Harness connectors can be generated by using the Generate Harness Connectors action on devices added from Capital Component Manager with harness connector mappings defined in their footprint or housing (see Generating Harness Connectors).

Procedure
Press the space bar and enter Add connector and then select Home > connector > Add connector from the Search Ribbon dropdown list.The cursor changes to , , , or , depending on the type of connector being placed.
Click to place the first corner of the connector.
Move the cursor to position the opposite corner of the connector. A shadow box indicates where the connector will be added and a tooltip displays the width and number of pins that can fit on the connector.
To place the connector:For a plug, jack, or ring terminal, click to place the opposite corner of the connector.
For an inline, click to place the boundary between the plug and jack, and then move the cursor and click to place the opposite corner of the connector.
Note If you use Ctrl+click to place the opposite corner of the plug, jack, or inline, pins are added automatically.
Tip To rotate a connector you are placing, press R after you click to place the first corner of the connector. After placing the device: The device name is displayed vertically to the right of the device. Any pins placed automatically using Ctrl+click are placed on the top / bottom of the device instead of on the left / right.
Results
The connector is added to the diagram.
A pin is added automatically when you place a ring terminal. Pins are added automatically to the plug, jack, or inline if you use Ctrl+click to place the connector.
Note
If you add a plug such that the side that can connect with a device is touching the side of a device, and the plug has pins, the side of the device touching the plug has pins, or both, the plug will be mated with the device, matching pins will be added as required and any conductors previously attached to that device that are covered by the plug are disconnected from the device and connected to the plug, if they can be attached to parallel pins on the plug. In a similar fashion, matching pins are added if you add a plug or jack in a position and orientation where it can be mated with an existing jack or plug that has pins, and the two connectors are mated to each other. You can mate multiple jacks to a plug and you can mate multiple plugs to a jack.
If you place an inline across the path of a net, wire, or shield termination pins are automatically created where the conductor enters and exits the inline pair. The conductor is broken and a new conductor with the same properties is created on one side of the inline pair. The two conductors are attached to the pins. This also applies to nets and wires in multicores and overbraids, which are split and retain their structure on both sides of the new inline. If there are shields and daisy chains attached, they remain connected to the same pins but may belong to the newly created multicore or overbraid. If the existing multicore or overbraid belongs to an assembly, the newly-created multicore or overbraid also belongs to that assembly. In the case of design-wide and shared nets, wires and multicores, the newly-created conductors are created as entirely new non-design-wide, non-shared conductors. That is, they are not created as instances of the design-wide or shared conductor.
