Smart Clients on iPads and MacOS Based Devices

Smart Client HTML and Capital Explorer service documentation package access is supported in connected mode both for iPads, and also laptops and devices running the Mac operating system.

Smart Client HTML and Capital Explorer service packages can be viewed using a Safari or Google Chrome browser on an iPad. For MacOS based devices only the Safari browser is supported.

A number of functionality changes have been incorporated to allow for the use of a touch screen interface:

  • Double tapping on SVG images executes a Zoom to Fit action.
  • A long press is used to detect hovering on a SVG image for object highlighting. A long press also invokes the context menu in the JT viewer. For further information see JT 3D Model Viewer in the Capital Publisher User Guide.
  • Pinch, zoom and pan actions are implemented for SVG images. You should pinch the screen to zoom in, spread your fingers to zoom out and tap and move around to pan across SVG images.
  • A Zoom Selected action is available in the Zoom toolbar allowing you to zoom to a selected object.
  • The zoom toolbar is visible when SmartClient is opened in touch devices. If there are no user interactions for a few seconds it is automatically hidden until required.

Aside from the different methods of access and interaction, Smart Client functionality remains the same as detailed in the Viewing HTML, Capital Explorer and Change Illustrator Service Documentation chapter.

Accessing Smart Client Packages

There are two methods of connected mode access to Smart Client packages:

  • Online, over the internet accessed by a URL, which can be saved as a bookmark, if required.
  • Connected over an ad-hoc local network from a server.
