Add Device From Library

Part Dialog Box

To access: Press the space bar and enter Add Device From Library, select a library part in the Part Selection Dialog Box that does not have a symbol associated with it, and then click Insert. Alternatively, in the Parts Browser double-click a library part that does not have a symbol associated with it, or select it and then right‑click and select Create Device with pins.

Used to select which pins to place on a new device using a library part that does not have a symbol associated with it.

Objects

Field Description
Select Pins Lists all the pins in the library part definition. Modular insert pin names display the blocked cavity and pin numbers separated by a colon “:” to indicate the hierarchy of pins within inserts. See Modular Connectors. Select or multi‑select the pins to place on the device. If you choose to place pins individually on the diagram, they will display in the order selected this table. See also Select Pins Table.
Place Specifies how to place the pins on the object instance: Individually Manually place the selected pins one-by-one. When you are placing pins on the diagram they will display in the order selected in the Select Pins table. Auto-Generate Have the pins placed on the device automatically. As Stack Place all the selected pins as a single ‘stacked’ pin. See Stacked Pins. Unavailable if As Reference is selected. This video demonstrates how to add pins as a stack: As Group Place all the selected pins as a group in one click. The pins are placed as individual pins next to each other. You can control the spacing and order of the pins using modifier keys which are described in a tooltip that is shown when placing the pins. This video demonstrates how to add pins as a group: When indicated by a tooltip you can press the Shift or Ctrl keys to change between placing Individually, As Group, or As Stack when you are placing the pins.
As Reference Specifies whether the selected pins will be added as reference pins (selected) or not (cleared). See Reference Pins.
OK Click to place the selected pins.
