Component Management

This chapter describes the automated selection of terminals, cavity seals, cavity plugs, and extra components, as well as backshell seals and backshell plugs.

Note

See “Part Revision” for how part selection is affected by part revision status.

Once wires have been added to a design and terminated in cavity or backshell terminations, you can use the Cavity Component Management facility to select and refine appropriate cavity components per wire combination in the cavities. Multiple processing methods are available to select components based on the wire combinations defined by child designs, wires at the cavity, or module codes on wires at the cavity.

Note

Backshell and device terminations display in the Cavity Component Management Dialog Box Cavity Details table grid and can also have their terminals, cavity plugs, cavity seals, and extra components selected by the automated or manual selection process.

As the wires terminated in a cavity can vary between harness derivatives or modules, the management of cavity components on a composite harness can be performed on wire combinations to ensure that the correct components are selected for each child design during Composite Breakdown.

It is also possible to interactively add terminal and seals, with associated part numbers, into empty cavities that do not have terminating conductors.
