Harness Synchronization

Harness Synchronization is the process by which electrical data from a Capital Logic Designer design, or electrical and topological data from a Capital Systems Integrator or Capital Wiring Integrator design, are synchronized into one or more harness designs.

The purpose of synchronization is either to add electrical data to an existing bundle configuration, or as the basis for a new harness design. After the data has been synchronized, the harness design can be completed through the addition of engineering components, such as insulation, clips, and grommets.

Wires and multicores that you have authored in the harness design are not deleted by the synchronization process. This is to preserve “dummy” wires, that you may have added for non-electrical reasons.

Rules control the logic of the synchronization of component data.

Before you synchronize design changes into a harness design, you can simulate a synchronization to preview the impact on your target designs.

The system performs validation checks before data can be successfully synchronized. The following library part checks are included:

  • Library parts assigned on pin lists (connectors and splices), wires, and multicores exist in the component library.

  • Cavity names match the library part assigned and the number of cavities does not exceed the number specified against the part number.

  • Ring terminal part numbers have one and only one cavity.

  • Multicore structure matches with assigned library part innercore definition. Note If the pin count or pin names have changed on a part in the library, a new library part revision is required for use elsewhere. Other updates to the part do not require the creation of a new revision (changes to attributes / properties / housing).
