Elbow Fixture Placement Conditions

The system considers two conditions when determining if a fixture can be placed at an elbow.

Conditions

• Condition 1 - The fixture can be added as an elbow placement if the angle between the two segments is: Greater than, or equal to 1 degree or

Less than, or equal to 179 degrees

• Condition 2
• Once the fixture shaft diameter is determined (when its part number is specified), the fixture can be placed at the elbow only if the tangency of its shaft to the internal sides of the segments, is not beyond the shortest bundle segment’s internal corner. Figure 319 shows an example of shaft diameter maximum limit for elbow placement: a bigger diameter fixture cannot be placed as it will not be in contact with the shortest segment. Manual

When Manually Adding a Fixture at an Elbow Between Two Segments, after selecting the point for placement:

• If Condition 1 is met: The bisector arrow (which indicates valid elbow placement) displays. Fixture selection can proceed.

The Add Fixture Dialog Box is displayed and a part number can be selected, at which point the shaft diameter is determined. If Condition 2 is met, the fixture can be placed as an elbow fixture.

If Condition 2 is not met, the OK button of the “Add Fixture Dialog Box” is disabled.

• If Condition 1 is not met: The bisector arrow does not display.

The fixture is added as a segment placement, positioned at the end point of the segment’s center line.

When Placing Fixtures Automatically using rules and constraints, if either Condition 1 or Condition 2 is not met, the fixture is not created.

Update

fixture position after bundle layout change

When changing the bundle layout, for example changing the angle of the elbow, the fixture is changed to a segment placement if either Condition 1 or Condition 2 is not met. See Update Fixture Positions.

Moving

an Elbow Fixture

When Moving a Fixture, the fixture is changed to a segment placement if either Condition 1 or Condition 2 is not met. An error message is displayed if Condition 2 is not met, where the shaft diameter is too large for the fixture to be placed inside the elbow.
