Preparing to Merge or

Combine Formboards

The first stage in the formboard merge / combine process is to create a new empty merged / combined formboard design and select the member diagrams you want to merge / combine.

Prerequisites

  • You have identified a project that contains the valid full scale designs you want to merge / combine.

Procedure

  1. Open the project and click Merge Formboards on the Capital ribbon.The New Merged Formboard Dialog Box displays.

  2. Enter the required information in the following fields:Name

Part Number

Revision

Short Description

Description

Release Level Note The ability to edit the design may depend on its release level, and the behaviors assigned to that release level in Capital Project Manager. See also “Creating a Release Level for a Project” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide.

Style Set

Diagram Name

Tip Style Sets — If required, you can have a style set that is optimized for the merge process (that shows just the necessary content) and one that you can apply on the finished formboard diagram to show the full content.

  1. To display bundle widths on the new merged / combined diagram in full scale (as well as full scale length), select Full Scale Width.

  2. Click OK.The main Diagram window displays, split into three design areas (see Capital Formboard Manager User Interface). The merged / combined formboard design displays in the project browser tree.

  3. Click the Select formboard diagram buttons in an empty preview window.The Select Formboard Diagram Dialog Box displays.

  4. Select the required existing full scale diagram for the first member design.Click the Select Diagram Color button to assign a color to this member design. This color is used during the merge / combine process to help you to identify the different member designs content. Ensure you select a different color for each member design.

  5. Click OK.The selected diagram displays in the preview panel.

  6. Repeat steps 5 to 7 for the second diagram you want to merge / combine.

Results

  • You can now begin the process of Merging the selected diagrams onto the empty merged design — see “Merging Formboards”.
