Calculating

the Routed State of Signals

You can use the Signal Route State Calculator in the Design Assistant to calculate the route state of signals (routed, unrouted, unconnected, and so on).

Prerequisites

You must have made the Design Assistant visible by pressing Space Bar and entering Assistant.

Procedure

  1. If you want to calculate the routed state of selected signals, select them in the Design Browser (Design tab) at the bottom left of the application.

  2. In the Design Assistant, set the scope of the calculations using the toggles:None / Active Levels / Persisted Level Configurations / All Level Configurations / Abstract Option Configurations

See the Design Assistant Mode table under Design Assistant for details of each of these options. Caution If the design contains abstract harness levels only, do not select “Active Levels”, “Persisted Level Configurations”, or “All Level Configurations” because such levels and configurations do not work for signal route calculations. You must set a scope of “Abstract Option Configurations”.

Entire Design / Selected Signals

  1. Click the Run the Design Assistant’s checks () button.

Results

Note

When calculating the routed state of signals, the Design Assistant considers the following network constraints: Daisy-chained network group, Daisy-chained network specification, Network specification, and Network termination. It identifies whether a signal or multicore is a network or not, and that it is correctly terminated (that is, it has two terminators) in each configuration.

The results of the calculations are displayed in the Design Assistant Output Table.

Note

While viewing the results, you can switch the Design Assistant tab into Synthesis Analyzer Mode that helps you to investigate why a signal has not routed in particular configurations. See Switching to Synthesis Analyzer Mode for a Signal.
