Adding Pins to a Modular Insert

You can add pins to modular inserts that have been added to a modular connector position.

Prerequisites

Modular inserts have been added to a modular connector position using the Modular Tab (Properties Dialog Box).

Procedure

Select the connector or the modular insert in the Diagram window or in the Design Browser:Right-click and select Add Pin, to open the Place Pins Dialog Box [Non-Shared Objects] or Place Pins Dialog Box [Shared Objects] and add existing pins. You can select multiple existing pins.

Press Shift and select Add Pin to add multiple new pins.

Press the space bar and enter Add Pin.

When working with multiple pins, press Ctrl to select multiple pins. The order the pins are selected is the order they will be placed on the object. This enables you to place pins in an irregular order without having to consider space constraints or readjust the pins after placement, improving productivity.

Press P (to add one new pin).

Note If a graphical symbol is assigned to a component, or the project preferences are specified to look up available symbols, the Connector View displays the symbols defined in the library for the level of the modular connector you have selected. If you select a top‑level connector, the full structure is displayed; if you select a modular insert, the sub‑component is displayed.

From the Select Pins Table select the pins or to add (press Ctrl or Shift to select multiple pins).
Cavities are highlighted in the Symbol panel if matching cavity datums have been specified on the symbol displayed.
If required, click the Symbol dropdown list to select optional end views of the modular connector and the inserts defined in Capital Component Manager.
Select the Place check boxes as required, and then click Place.
In the Diagram window, hover over the connector pin positions.As you move over the positions, the cursor changes appearance: — where a pin can be added. — where a pin cannot be added. For connectors, a broken line indicates the side on which you can add a pin. If you add a pin at a point on the broken line outside of the connector graphic, the symbol stretches to include the new pin.

Click the locations on the connector to add the pins.
If adding multiple new pins, press Esc to cancel.To view adding pins to a modular insert:

Results

The associated child modular inserts and pins are displayed on the parent connector graphic to show the complete hierarchy of the Aerospace Modular Connectors.

Child symbols are placed on top of the parent symbol at the location matching the blocked cavity name and the datum name.
Modular inserts are drawn at a fraction of the grid-spacing as the parent to avoid overlapping the adjacent pin names.
