Quickly Adding a Multicore
or Overbraid
You can use the Quick Add functionality to quickly create a multicore or overbraid using conductors that are already placed on a diagram. The type of multicore or overbraid created is determined by the Quick Add project preferences.
If the conductors you select to add to the new multicore or overbraid are all shared, the new multicore or overbraid is created as a shared object.

Note
If you use the Quick Add functionality to create a shared oval or coax multicore, hookups for attaching shield terminations or daisy chains are added to its indicators automatically. See Creating a Shared Multicore or Overbraid to create a shared oval or coax multicore without indicator hookups.
Tip
You can use the Quick Add functionality for multicore or overbraid types that are frequently used in a design. For more complicated or specific types, use one of the following procedures:

Restrictions and Limitations
The conductors you select must all be non-shared objects or shared objects. To create a shared multicore or overbraid containing a mixture of non‑shared and shared conductors, see Creating a Shared Multicore or Overbraid.
You must add a shield termination to shielded multicores and to overbraids. See Adding a Shield Termination.
If you select objects that cannot be added to a multicore or overbraid in Step 1, including any conductors that are already part of the multicore or overbraid assembly, they are ignored when you run the Quick Add action and the multicore or overbraid is created using only those selected objects that can be added to a multicore or overbraid.
Prerequisites
- Set the following Multicore and Overbraid Project Preferences to specify the types of multicore and overbraid indicators you want to Quick Add by default: Default Twisted Multicore
Default Shielded Multicore
Default Sheathed Multicore
Default Overbraid

Procedure
Select the conductors to include in the multicore or overbraid.
Press the space bar and enter the required action:Quick Add Shielded Multicore (Shift+H)
Quick Add Sheathed Multicore (Shift+S)
Quick Add Twisted Multicore (Shift+T)
Quick Add Overbraid (Shift+O)
Alternatively, use the space bar or keyboard shortcut to invoke the Quick Add action and select the conductors to include in the multicore or overbraid.The cursor changes to .
Select the conductors to add, and then double‑click to Finish.
Results
Multicore or overbraid indicators of the type specified in the Quick Add project preferences are attached to the conductors on the diagram. Note By default, indicators span the space between the conductors in the multicore or overbraid. If the conductors in the multicore or overbraid are too far apart, the indicators will be split. You can use the Toggle Indicators action to change whether the indicators are split. See Toggling Multicore and Overbraid Indicators.
The multicore or overbraid is added to the Multicores folder or Overbraids folder in the Design Browser. The conductors added to the new multicore or overbraid are removed from their original position in the Conductors, Multicores, or Overbraids folder in the Design Browser and are listed as child nodes of the new multicore or overbraid node.
If you create a shielded multicore, the unplaced shield is listed under the multicore node in the Design Browser. Tip You can double-click the unplaced shield to add the ends of the shield termination. See also Adding a Shield Termination.
If the conductors selected in Step 1 were all shared conductors, the created multicore or overbraid is also a shared object and is added to the Shared Objects Browser.
