Adding Device Side Connector Details

Capital Devices allows you to use the Footprints accordion on the ICD to add device connectors to ICDs which do not have a library part assigned. This helps avoid the need to create dummy device parts while waiting for a fully defined device to become available from the library.

The functionality allows you to perform a number of different tasks including assigning a connector to existing pins, or adding a connector to create new pins. It allows you to select individual pins and assign different connectors and add implementation details to the ICD pins.

Prerequisites

The device does not have a library part number assigned.

Procedure

1. Click in the Device Footprint accordion to create a new footprint.
2. Either click the icon to view and select a connector — ICD pins already exist for this. Alternatively click to select a connector from the library and assign existing pins. The correct number of corresponding ICD pins are created.
3. In both cases, the ICD pins are automatically associated with the cavities on the connector. You can make manual adjustments to these associations, if required. The convention for naming the pins is connector : cavity name, for example JI : 1.
4. You can also use the spreadsheet-like functionality to copy pin mapping data across multiple blank cells. Cells with entries already assigned are skipped over.

Note: If you make changes to the pin name and value in the Pin Properties accordion this information is automatically updated in the Footprints accordion.
