Identifying Impacted Child Designs by Comparing Composite Designs

You can compare the differences between the design objects in two revisions of a composite design, to identify any impacted child designs.

Restrictions and Limitations

• If you remove the end from an overbraid, the Change Impact - Design Compare tab reports the deleted end rather than the modification to the parent overbraid. This does not affect which child designs are identified as impacted.

Prerequisites

• A revision of the composite design exists which contains one or more modifications to the design objects.

• The original or the revised composite design is open.

Procedure

1. From the Workflow ribbon, click the Change Impact dropdown list () and select Change Impact - Design Compare.The Design Revision Selection Dialog Box opens.

2. Select the required revision of the composite design to compare, and then click OK.The following design objects and child designs are displayed on the Change Impact

• Interactive / Design Compare Tab in the Output window: All the child designs in the composite design are listed in the Child Designs column.

Impacted child designs are marked with a “tick” () in the Impacted column.

Modified design objects are listed in the object columns.

3. Select a modified design object to highlight the corresponding child designs that are impacted by the change.

4. If you modify the design, click Compare to, to refresh the comparison of the two composite designs.The Change Impact - Design Compare tab displays any additional design objects and impacted child designs.
