Abstractions to Control Ribbon Display

The contents of the ribbon are customized based on the design abstraction that is assigned to a Capital Logic Designer design. For example, Logical, Wiring, Fluid, and Smart Flow designs display the ribbon actions which are relevant to their respective type of design abstraction.

Restrictions and Limitations

• The Fluid design abstraction type is only available if you have set the following parameter to “true” in the clientprops.xml file located in the capital_installation/config folder. Default is “false”. Copy<Enable_fluid_abstraction_type value="true"/>

• The Single Lines ribbon action is only available if no design abstraction type is selected.

Procedure

1. Create a design abstraction in Capital Project Manager and specify one of the following Type values:Fluid

Logical

System Block

Wiring

2. Assign the design abstraction to your design in the Edit Design dialog box.See also “Editing the Information for a Design” in the Capital Design Tools - Common Functions User Guide. Figure 3: Assigning an Abstraction to a Design

Results

• When you open diagrams for that design, the ribbon targeted for the design abstraction is displayed.

• If you are working with the Logical abstraction ribbon, the following actions are removed from the Home tab:

                        Add inline
  

Add plug

						Add ring terminal

Add receptacle

						Add single line

					

					
						Add splice

					

					
						Add wire

The following actions are removed from the Automate tab: Nets to Wires

Generate Harness Connectors Manage Connector

• If you are working with the Fluid abstraction ribbon (Figure 6), the Home tab is changed: Conductors section removed

Connector types removed

Net is renamed Line

Pin is renamed Ports

• If you are working with the System Block abstraction ribbon (Figure 7), the Home tab is changed: In the components area, only the add Block and Highway actions are displayed.

• If you are working with the Smart Flow abstraction ribbon (Figure 8), the Home tab is changed: In the components area, only the following actions are displayed: Step
