Adding a

Backshell without an Associated Library Part

You can add a backshell to a connector by manually specifying backshell terminations.

Prerequisites

  • You must have added a connector to the harness design (see Adding a Connector without an Associated Library Part for more information) although a backshell can be added while placing a connector.

Procedure

  1. Select one of the entities related to the connector to which you are adding a backshell: the structure node at which the connector is placed, the connector cavity table, the primary connector symbol, for modular connectors (housings), the position table.

  2. Either:Press Space Bar and enter Edit

Right-click the selected entity and select Edit Connector

Double-click one of the related entities

The Edit Connector Dialog Box is displayed.

  1. On the Backshell tab, enter a termination name into the field beneath the Terminations list, and then click Add to specify a backshell termination.

  2. Repeat Step 3 until all backshell terminations have been specified.

  3. Click OK.

Results

  • The backshell is added to the Harness Design Browser, nested beneath the connector to which it was added, and all backshell terminations are listed beneath it.

  • If the connector has a cavity chart styled, the backshell terminations are added at the bottom, beneath the connector cavities.
